About the Agile Development Institute
Most training assumes you already know the words. We start from the assumption that nobody explained them to you, and that this was never your fault.
The Agile Development Institute exists for people who have been handed a new way of working — a framework, a piece of software, a change nobody asked them about — and left to make sense of it on their own. We teach in plain terms, at a pace that respects the person, and we do not pretend that jargon is knowledge.
Two kinds of training
Accredited certification courses. ADI delivers Scaled Agile (SAFe) and ICAgile programmes. Those certifications, their exams and their certificates belong to the bodies that award them; we deliver the training that prepares you to sit them, taught either by our founder where he is certified to do so, or by authorized instructors we contract for the rest.
Our own self-paced courses. Written here, for people who use technology every day at work without having been taught how to make it earn its keep. Short lessons you can take at your own pace, an assessment marked on our side rather than in your browser, and a credential at the end with an identifier anyone can check on our verification page.
Who we teach
Administrative and executive assistants. Office coordinators. Teachers, church and nonprofit staff. People later in a long career who have no intention of being left behind, and people whose employer switched on a new tool one Monday and offered nothing but a link to the release notes.
You do not need a technical background for any course we write. Where a course expects something of you before you start, its page says so plainly.
What our credentials are, and are not
An ADI micro-credential is ours. It says that a named person sat an assessment we set, drawn at random from a bank written against our own lessons, and reached the mark we published. It is not an exam-backed certification from Scaled Agile, ICAgile or any software vendor, and we will never describe it as one. Every credential carries an identifier that anyone — an employer, a client, a hiring manager — can check against our records without asking you for anything.
Who we are
ADI was founded by Elbert C. Alexander, a program and project manager who has spent his working life on the receiving end of change initiatives as well as the delivering end of them, and who writes the self-paced courses himself. The institute is based in North Carolina and teaches remotely.
